On this gorgeous April 2016 Sunday, we got up early and drove to Nice. The idea was to take pictures in the old town and at the Saleya flower, vegetable, and fruit market before too many people showed up. This worked out pretty well: we got to Nice shortly after seven a.m. and began exploring the area around the market. Vendors were still setting up and there were very few customers. All this looking at edible stuff whetted our appetite, so we we had a tasty breakfast in one of the eateries around Saleya.
We then explored the area behind the market before moving on to the sea shore and following it to the harbor. We eventually reached the Place Garibaldi and re-entered the center of the old town from there. It's easy to lose one's bearing in the maze of narrow and meandering streets, but eventually we found our way back to the Place Rossetti and from there to the market and our car. By around ten a.m. Saleya was getting crowded, and so we decided to head home. This part of Nice is very picturesque, but it pays to visit early.
