The photos on this page were taken on July 27, 2010. My cousin Evelyne (who was staying with us in Chapel Hill for a couple of weeks) and I decided to take a day trip to Wilmington. We left the Camry to Vicki and packed sunscreen, beach towels, and other appropriate paraphernalia into Günther (Eric's Toyota Echo). The original idea was to have lunch in Wilmington and then drive to Wrightsville Beach, but after we had a delicious coffee and a deceptively harmless-looking but extremely filling cake at a local bakery, neither one of us felt like having lunch, so we headed out to Wrightsville Beach earlier than planned. The amazing thing is that it rained on the way to the coast, and it poured on the way back to Chapel Hill, but while we were there we didn't get a single drop of rain, and occasionally we even saw the sun. This was a fun trip, and Günther got a much needed 336 mile (540 kilometer) workout.
