From South Kensington to Camden

On Sunday, March 26, 2006, almost 20 years ago, Eric and Daniel walked from Linstead Hall, Eric's student residence in South Kensington back then, to Camden Lock Market. The purpose of this page is to provide a memory of this beautiful day. The page was completely redone in early 2026: photos were reprocessed, a third more images were added, and the text as well as many captions were enriched with links.

From Imperial College to Regent's Park

On the way, we passed by an older building of Imperial College, saw the Royal Albert Hall, walked through a corner of Kensington Gardens, strolled through Hyde Park, encountered some bizarre (but not uninteresting) characters at Speakers' Corner, got lost around Marble Arch, walked down Baker Street, found and ambled through Regent's Park, passed by London Zoo, and finally ended up at Cumberland Basin.

From Cumberland Basin to Camden

From Cumberland Basin, it was a simple thing to follow Regent's Canal Towpath all the way to Camden Lock Market. This is a short walk, about half a mile, along moored boats, some lovely residences, and under a number of road and railway bridges. We spent some time at the market before heading back to Linstead Hall by subway.
