One of the most famous tourist attractions on the French Riviera is the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild on Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. It was built between 1905 and 1912 by Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi, née Rothschild, on a magnificent plot of 17 acres (69,000 square meters) of some of the most beautiful real estate on the Côte d'Azur. The villa is surrounded by several spectacular gardens and has become home to the Baroness' spectacular art collection.
On May 6, 2016, more than 25 years after moving to this area, we finally managed a visit! We took a train from Cannes to Beaulieu-sur-Mer and walked the short distance to the sea and onto the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula. From the shore of the Mediterranean, it is a bit of a climb up to the villa, but the destination is definitely worth it! Following our visit, we stopped in Beaulieu for lunch before taking a train back to Cannes. The Nikon stayed home for this one; all photos were taken with the Fujifilm X100s.
