The village with its iconic red and yellow church tower
This quiet (in the winter) and bustling (in the summer) little town has become famous the world over as a favorite meeting point of the jet set, the St. Moritz of the summer season, as it were. Located on the south side of one of the Riviera's most beautiful bays, Saint-Tropez was all but ignored by tourists at the turn of the century. It was the painters, starting with Paul Signac, and then the writers who made St-Tropez famous. When the place turned into a hangout of show business celebrities (and their following) during the 50s, it became known internationally. These days, the celebrities are mostly hiding out on boards yachts or on private beaches, though the stream of tourists has not abated.
The original Saint-Tropez page was one of the first ones we published on our site, and that was over 15 years ago! High time, then, for an update. Except for four photographs taken in 2011, the pictures on this page were all taken on May 31, 2015 We hope you enjoy the visit!
