Plaque

Thursday, July 2, 2009

This plaque is mounted on the outside wall of our house; it was made by the Poterie Tournesol, a small shop in Tourrettes-sur-Loup that is famous for this kind of item. When we shopped for it years ago, we went through some catalog of plaques that had been made in the shop, and imagine our surprise when we came across one with our name! Some distant relative visiting the area, perhaps? Possibly an incredibly rich and hitherto unknown uncle looking for heirs? We asked the shopkeeper to check, but as it hat been a cash purchase, no further information was available. As it turned out, our neighbors had ordered the plaque as a present for us. It has everything we like: olive trees, the Mediterranean, rolling hills, an old village... even a Siamese cat.
