One of my favorite places around here is Elmo’s Diner at Carr Mill Mall in Carrboro, just a short drive from Southern Village. The setting alone makes this diner unusual, and the fact that it is inside a mall is most convenient as it is easy to do one’s shopping before or after a meal. The clincher is that at Elmo’s, they serve breakfast all day long, and they have all my favorite breakfast foods as can easily be ascertained by a look at the menu. The owners write, “Our job at Elmo’s is to recognize that the vast majority of our business is made up of repeat customers. You are our friends and our neighbors, and we want you to feel good about eating at Elmo’s.” This does sound a bit corny, but once you’ve eaten at Elmo’s, you realize that it’s absolutely true.
