On the west side of the merry-go-round we saw yesterday, there appears to be a weekly exhibit of artists and craftsmen of varying levels of proficiency; the work they show ranges from the very nice to the highly unusual. This latter category concerns, for example, the output of a man who exhibits nothing but sculptures made out of rusty screws, nuts, bolts, washers, nails, and other pieces of ancient looking metal unfit for any practical purpose. A Tinguely he isn’t... On the other hand, some of the canvases are actually quite good; what’s fun is to watch the artists paint, but as most of them don’t like their work being photographed, it’s tricky to take their picture. There is also a flea market where for a small fortune, you can buy all the junk your grand-mother threw out...
